Paint the sky with fire

Dress, tank: Old Navy;
Boots: Target.

Not too much happened this weekend for me and Jeremiah. It all just seems like a blur of watching football, eating Japanese food, visiting Borders and watching old films.  I think I watched three old films this weekend -- "Hamlet," "Gigi," "Love in the Afternoon," and then "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" (the vampire musical is my favorite). I was pretty impressed with the camera techniques and angles in "Hamlet," plus Laurence Olivier's acting skills as the title character. Because of this, I also spent an inordinate amount of time this weekend looking up phrases and words coined by Shakespeare. "Get thee to a nunnery" is probably my favorite, if so because it's just a funny insult out of context (Hamlet says it to Ophelia).

I've always been a fan of older movies, and as I'm progressing with my photography interests, I'm trying to learn new shooting techniques, so part of my research has included watching clips from old movies, just to see how frames are set up. So far, I've been drawing a lot of inspiration from Hitchcock movies -- we'll see how that manifests itself on Sidewalk Chalk. Shakespeare and Hitchcock -- what can I say, those are my nerdy interests...

It seems like over the weekend, some of the leaves have already turned colors at the park. The temperature's still pretty high all day (80s and 90s),  and Georgia doesn't really experience full-on autumn until November. So to satisfy my desire to utilize my fall wardrobe, I'm wearing my boots with my darker summer dresses.

Wow, I feel like this post was all over the place, but it's Sunday night as I write this and I'm anticipating "Mad Men." How was your weekend?

signature1 by you.

    As for Mad Men, the hubby and I are currently on Season 2 and we have the rest in our Netflix Queue. We also dvr'd all of season 4 so far, but we can't watch them until we are caught up:)
    I'm thinking another month or so and then I'll know what everyone is talking about.
