Summer personified

Top: Old Navy;
Skirt: Nine and Co., Nine West;
Belt: Ann Taylor Loft;
Shoes: Tayla Platform heels, Target;
Bag and ribbons: from Mexico, gift;
Greeley the tiger brooch: thrifted.

For my fourth and final day of "staycation," I rediscovered one of my favorite summer skirts. It's very long on me, but for whatever reason I don't want to part with any of its length, so I fashioned it as a high-waisted skirt and wore tall heels to make it seem like it was well-proportioned to my size. Wearing this outfit made me feel like I was summer personified --- the fiery red, pinks and oranges remind me of the flowers and sunsets so often seen during the summer months.

You're going to be seeing a lot of this straw bag --- I got it as a present from J., the exchange student who stayed with Jeremiah's family a couple years ago. I used to think the bag was a good summer neutral, but realized it is also perfect for customizing with ribbons, brooches, etc. That's Greeley the tiger peeking out from one of the straps.

What outfits in your closet embody summer for you?

Hope you have a great Tuesday night!

signature1 by you.

p.s. Speaking of summer, there's still time to enter my Abazias Diamonds palm tree necklace giveaway -- it ends tonight at 11:59 pm EST :)

  3. I know there are many who won't agree with me on this, but jumpsuits always make me feel instantly summery! Thin khaki ones with bold jewelry, terrycloth ones thrown over bathing suits - comfort and cute all in one :o)

    You look gorgeous in this! I think worn this way, all the proportions are right on, and I lovelove the straw bag that you can customize for each outfit. What a great idea! (anything you can attach a critter to, I'm all for!)
