Oh, hello there. I've missed you.

Dress: Old Navy;
Shell necklace: from Philippines, gift;
Shoes: Zigi Soho;
Sandals: Miss Trish of Capri, Target.
How I've worn the dress before: here.

My Internet has been out for the last day and a half because of a storm outage, and I've just now been re-introduced to sweet, sweet technology and I have lots of catching up to do.

I have something to admit -- I did this photo shoot twice at different parts of the day yesterday. I went to the park by myself late in the afternoon to shoot photos, but was so frustrated with various aspects -- the lighting, and my tripod -- that I left and came back two hours later with Jeremiah, who willingly obliged to do a second shoot. Notice the lighting differences between the photos and also the footwear change -- I swapped my wedges for some sandals. I know that sounds obsessive to do it twice, but when I've got a day off, I want to make the most of my blog photo-taking.

Now that this secret is off my chest, let's get to the outfit. This is Dress #20 from The Dress Project. Though I bought it specifically as an easy summer dress, it's proven to be an all-season frock. As Georgia's colder seasons are generally pretty mild, the dress's lightweight material has worked really well for layering, and I've taken it through fall, winter and spring.To be honest, I like the newest variation of this outfit the best, because sandals and shells seem to be more cohesive with the dress's tropical vibe.

What are your favorite all-season pieces?

signature1 by you.

  1. Just started reading last week and I'm loving you! I read alllll the way back to the beginning of the dress project. I'm going to start a project of my own on Monday and I'm so excited! Stay tuned to http://fashionmommaintraining.blogspot.com for more info! I just wanted to ask- what type of hair do you have? texture/body/etc? I have wavy(ish), frizzy(ish), fine hair, but when I blow it dry, it looks similar to yours (except mine's blonde). I was wondering what products you use to keep your hair looking so straight and smooth with all of that GA humidity! I live in NC and struggle with keeping my hair smooth through the Spring and Summer months! Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can reach me at fashion.momma22@gmail.com! Thx!

  2. :) Sometimes I get sooo frustrated by the pictures I've taken on my own when I transfer them to my computer and take a better look, and I totally feel like reshooting them, but I'm always inevitably too lazy. So I don't think it's too weird, I just applaud your dedication to attaining the perfect aesthetic :)

    I love this dress on you! And speaking of dresses, I was on vacation at the time so I didn't get to say it, but *congrats* for finishing the dress project! Such a cool idea, and it took dedication to make it to the end!

  7. Very cute! :) It's a bummer when things don't work out the way we hoped, but in the end...everything just seems to fall into place!

  8. I was wondering what happened to you! Its good that you are back! I take a self portrait everyday and have been doing it for the past two years. Having to force myself to be artistic in front of the camera is a constant challenge and what makes it so difficult for me is that I like to take pictures in natural light. The hardest days for me are the days when I don't get to take my picture before work because I know I'll miss out on the daylight and have to take indoor shots. I totally understand your need for quality shots and applaud your efforts for being so dedicated.
