Sing a song of sixpence

Dress: J. Crew;
Sweater: Target;
Boots: Target;
Blouse (under dress) and belt: BR,
gifts from Marilou;
Bag: H&M.

 Thursday was Day Six of the 30 for 30 Remix Challenge,  and it came with a bit of another challenge in and of itself. I found out Wednesday afternoon that I would be meeting with a department head of the graduate school program I am applying for on Thursday morning. What to wear? I didn't include the dress that I wore for a previous advisor meeting, so I couldn't repeat my last go-to outfit. After enlisting the help of some 30 for 30 remixers via my Twitter account (thanks, everyone!), I was convinced to go with what I knew best: a dress. I added a ruffle blouse underneath to make the neckline more modest. I went with my trusty J. Crew dress because I've become really fond of the color, and I really wanted to be associated with the color green, which I think is a very promising and hopeful color. The meeting went really well.

I brought a good luck toy along with me that day: Manny, my mammoth. Doesn't he look like a fun explorer?

Who do you enlist for help when you need sartorial advice? (For me, it's either my husband Jeremiah or my blog friends!)

  10. Adding the ruffled blouse underneath was ingenious. I thought it was part of the dress. When I need fashion help, I usually just dig deep within. If that fails, I ask my husband. He usually doesn't steer me wrong.

  22. I love the outfit!! Super cute!! And your good luck toy is awesome!! How great that you brought him along too! I usually ask my wife, and some of my college friends who I talk to over IM these days for advice! Actually, posting some outfit pics on flickr of outfits I was thinking of wearing to a party was one of the things that inspired me to start my own style blog. I guess now I would probably post the questions on my blog though. :)
