Lazy Sunday, or Dress #28

Dress: Laundry by Shelli Segal;
Shirt: H&M, gift from Nikki;
Bracelet: Finder's Keepers;
Moccasins: Minnetonka, gift.
How I've worn the dress before: here, here.

Please excuse the cut off photo and the unimaginative background setting. My usual gazebo photo spot was taken over by some neighborhood picnickers and while I wasn't really that thrilled about it, I couldn't blame them for doing so in the decent weather.

About this outfit. I got the dress for a bargain at Nordstrom's outlet store during a winter clearance. It's been a really dependable frock for parties, tourist-ing, among other things. I haven't really worn the top yet on the blog because it's one of those pieces that always stays wrinkled, but since today was all about comfort, I just threw it on anyways.

I was pretty excited about my makeup today, maybe more so than my outfit. I played around a lot more and found my Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey and had to wear it (I've been wearing a lot more of my Estee Lauder shades recently). It looks like a dark raisin shade when you open the tube, but it becomes a cinnamon-y red when you wear it. It's one of those shades that Clinique promises is universally flattering, and I could see that being true for most women. I love experimenting with makeup (I did my own for my wedding!) and after being inspired by some of my favorite beauty blogs, I might do a tutorial soon just for fun. Would you be interested?

Hope you have a great Sunday!

signature1 by you.

  4. The dress is so cute and the shade of lipstick looks pretty good from what I can tell. I'm experimenting with actually trying to wear lipstick so I could definitely use a tutorial.

  6. Oh, I love the print of your dress! So lovely.

    I go through phases with makeup. I'm not quite as confident in my color choices. But if someone tells me what goes I can apply. I did my own makeup for my wedding too!

  7. I love dependable frocks :) There are usually a couple each year that just become my go-to pieces for long days in the city, casual girls' or date nights, etc. LOVE the colors in this---beautiful.

  8. the colors and the pattern in this dress are so great, especially on you! i love that you wore a shirt underneath - i wouldn't have thought to do that and it looks great.

    i'm so scared of darker lip colors. i usually just go with a gloss. the darkest i ever go is a berry-colored lip stain which really just looks like a darker version of m lip color haha.

    And yes to a makeup tutorial, I'm so hopeless with make up.

  12. I hate it when we arrive at a location to shoot some pictures and other people have the audacity to be there already! I'm too self conscious to go ahead and take pictures in front of them, so it requires much fuming and then I have to figure out a second location.

    Needless to say, my husband can't stand those moments!

    I'm jealous of your amazing selection of dresses. You look very pretty in this one and layering it over the shirt was genius!

  13. So I've been busy and I had to catch up on your blog but your dress challenge is killing it right now... I don't think I could love the last 4 dresses anymore... and the way you paired the Jcrew with stripes is genius.

  15. You have a great eye for patterns and color. I have loved the printed dresses that you have worn lately especially this one and the J.Crew paisley print.

    I'm really lazy about make-up and only attempt make-up for nights out but I still enjoy reading about people's favorite products and how they use them.

  16. What a pretty dress! I love how you layer things up in such pretty, interesting ways. It would just look lumpy on me.
