Still I think I'm doing fine

Listening to: "Oh, what a world," Rufus Wainwright.
Dress: Maggy London, Macy's;
Necklace: Caiem, from Liz of Lizzypunch;
Tank: I'm not sure;
Tights: Marshall's;
Boots: Kady Cognac, Target;
Black cougar bracelet: thrifted.

First off, big thank you to Betz of Her Armoire for bestowing the Beautiful Blogger award to our site! Nik and I will do a joint post soon of our own random facts and pick bloggers for the award. Thank you again, Betz!
In other news, I was really productive today. Did my emissions test, sent out a ton of emails, looked up some graduate school information. I think part of it was because I dressed up a little bit more and it put some bounce in my step.

About the outfit. I need to thank Liz of Lizzypunch for this beautiful coconut necklace that I won from her giveaway. She picked it up on her recent holiday trip and the jewelry line is made by the handicapped and elderly of Manuabo, Puerto Rico. It's a great piece and I can't wait to incorporate into more outfits. Thank you, Liz! Check out her lovely blog here.

The weather has been so nice that I didn't need a jacket when we took these photos. I bought the dress a couple days ago on my birthday with a Macy's gift card. I love the print and I feel like this will be a great transitional piece throughout the seasons. Umm, however. I felt a little guilty buying it even with a gift card because I don't really need any more dresses. It's the only clothing item I buy anymore and I try to justify it by the fact that it's a whole outfit. I've been pretty good with shopping recently, but it can get pretty impulsive sometimes and I definitely need to think about the lesser-worn dresses that I already have before I buy more.
I wonder, lovely readers, what clothing item dominates your closet?

Hope you all have a lovely weekend! Nikki will be back to posting after she gets over her cold/takes the SATs this Saturday.

  2. dresses for me are a big dominator but not as big as the clothing item I can always justify buying (somehow)- the tank top. Of all shapes and colors... and of a few of the same colors too... I also have way more coats/jackets/blazers/shrugs and other sorts of outerwear than any person should have.

  3. The dress is a perfect buy with your gift card! You can even wear it with flat sandals in the summer! I'm also a dress hoarder. And skirts. I only have one pair of jeans that's actually in rotation!

  6. Oh I'm so glad you like the necklace! It looks great on you! Thanks for the mention, I'll be sure to return the favor :)
    I wear a lot of black, in any form, I just naturally gravitate to a black top, jacket, etc. I really try to hold back though, and step out of my comfort zone!

  9. Hands down dresses dominate my ENTIRE closet. When I was cleaning out my closet for the winter and putting my summer stuff away I counted how many dresses I had and let's just say that it's in the 3 digit numbers. I can dare ever tell my husband because he would flip.

    Love that dress - the print is so great.

    in my closet i definitely have way too many skirts and dresses that i never wear (which is weird since i never wore dresses or skirts back in high school. i was strictly jeans haha).

  15. What a cute blog you and your sister have here (found it by the way of Tabitha @ Fashion Therapist) :) Dress dominate my closet!! I've lost count. They're just so easy to wear and you can style them for any season... except here in Hawaii, it's pretty much "summer" all year round..

    Take care!

  19. Dresses definitely dominate my closet. It's funny, a few years ago when my boyfriend and I first became friends I would only wear jeans - now he has to practically beg me to dress down.
    I love this blog btw - my sister is my best friend - we don't live near each other anymore but your blog just gives me lots of warm fuzzies on days that I'm missing her.

  23. i am similarly bad about buying dresses! i have a million and i always feel like i have to have more.

  24. I love your boots! I've been wanting a pair like that, but I haven't gotten any yet.

    My closet is filled with dresses, but I've noticed that I wear my skirts more often. I guess I like the versatility of pairing them with different blouses.
