Deep thoughts at Target, or Dress #8

Dress:  La Belle, Marshall's;
Tights: Target;
Boots: Kady cognac, Target;
Trench: Banana Republic, gift.

* This is an incredibly random post. Like seriously, stream of consciousness. I'm tired.

I was feeling daring today for my Dress Project assignment. How adventurous, you may ask? I dressed like cake again, and this time with colored tights. I'm getting more on that bandwagon everyday.

So I'm not going to lie, I did not want to dress up today, but one of the parts of this Dress Project is that I plan to take daily photos for the 45 day period. I'm not trying to complain because for the most part it's been fun, but on days like today it feels challenging because it seemed like the windy, cold weather tried to work against me. Today also kicked my ass in several ways, which culminated in a good long cry session this afternoon, after which I immediately felt much better. I'm a crier for the most part -- a daily cry is sometimes essential for me to function.

I ended up going to Target this evening to perk up my spirits. It's amazing how one place can immediately alter my mood -- the bright but not blinding lights, the colorful inventory, the waft of buttery popcorn smell at the front entrance. All of it combined just works for me, like Tiffany's worked for Holly Golightly. I don't even care if I sound vapid for telling you all that a mass-chain corporation makes me that happy, but it does. I didn't break my self-induced shopping ban, although technically I did buy a new wallet because I needed a grownup one, and because my little zippered pouch that my former roommate bought me in Bosnia finally fell apart.

Anyways, while listening to my Ipod (particularly between songs "Big Pimpin'/Papercut" and "Briony" from the Atonement soundtrack) I had some ridiculously random thoughts:

1) If I could just chuck my life's path right now, I would find a way to work on a Quentin Tarantino movie. Even if it meant being an assistant who had to disassemble sets and pick up fake bloody body parts. I think it would incredibly fun to be part of a creative movie venture like that.

2) Who would win in a ninja fight: Don Draper from "Mad Men" or Bill from "True Blood." I think Don could use glorious, colloquial words and pitch himself out of the fight, but I think I'd choose Bill because he's a vampire and I just happen to like how he says Sookie's name. SOO-KEH.

 I'm going to start on dinner -- have a good night!

signature1 by you.

  3. I'm definitely a crier, too! Just feels necessary sometimes. I think the boyfriend is still adjusting to this concept. LOVE the dress & the tights. Target definitely has the power to make things better...I may need to head there soon.

    Hope things look up tomorrow! And I vote Don Draper, much as I <3 True Blood as well.

  5. Oh I am such a crier too! Seriously daily cries are good for me. Drives my boyfriend crazy, he doesn't get it.

    I also adore target. I go there multiple times a week, luckily I only like a mile from it. :) The one near me even has a mini pizza hut in it, so you smell the pizza... yum

  10. I love everything about this post, mostly because I identify with all of it.

    I haven't been to Target in a while but I have the same experience there. The only downfall is that every time I leave Target I am ridiculously thirsty. I swear that my Target is pumping something through the air to force you to get slushies!

  14. I love, love this dress! The bright pink tights make the color pop so wonderfully.

    I would be interesting to see a fight between Don Draper and Bill. I would have to vote for Bill, because, well he is a vampire and is kind of hard to kill. But it would be really fun to watch Don try to pitch his way out of it.
