Green's the thing, or Dress #35

Dress: Issac Mizrahi for Target;
Bracelets: Finder's Keepers;
Shoes: Zigi Soho.

Just an easy Tuesday outfit -- I really like the button closures and neckline detail on this dress, which has led me to keep it for so long. I don't really like the length -- maybe I'll get it hemmed?

I don't have much to say for this entry, except that I have only 10 more dresses to go! Hope you have a great night!

Easter Sunday, or Dress #34

Dress: Eyeshadow;
Sweater: Ann Taylor Loft;
Bracelet: Finder's Keepers;
Shoes: Zigi Soho.

Just a few pics at my family home for Easter. It was such a good day full of family and old friends, good food and conversation. I stuffed myself with yummy ham, rolls and cobbler...
About the dress. This was originally Nik's dress that she ended up giving me. It's a little big and it has an empire waistline, and while that's good for days of feasting, it's not good if you don't want relatives asking if you're finally going to have kids. So the sweater and belt helped alter it so it defined my natural waistline.

Family photo time!
Jeremiah, me, Mom

Me, Mom, Nik and Billy

Nik and I matched our colors perfectly without even consulting each other. I'm in awe of how we both got brown, white, yellow and green in our outfits.

How did you spend your weekend?

A modest proposal, or Dress #33

Dress: Ann Taylor Loft;
Sweater: Faded Glory;
Sandals: Miss Trish of Capri, Target;
Cougar bracelet: Finder's Keepers;
Necklace: hazel & harlow, lovely giveaway gift.

Just a quick post before we have some company over for the basketball game craziness begins.
The weather has been absolutely glorious the last couple of days, and I wish I could spend more time outside.

About the outfit. I really like how it turned out because I love red/white/anything remotely nautical. This dress is very special -- I became engaged while wearing it.
 I suppose you'd like to know the back story, so let's pretend we're in a play, shall we?

---
Ent. Scene: Sept. 2008, Senior year of college. Jeremiah's bedroom. Jeremiah is taking a nap on his bed. JoAnn walks into the room and sees the sleeping figure of her boyfriend.

JoAnn: Hey J, I'm about to leave for my interview [Ed. note: this was back when I worked at my college newspaper]. Can I get on your computer for a couple minutes?

Jeremiah: (still half-asleep) Ennnh.

JoAnn: Okay.
                       Gets on the computer and wiggles the mouse. The timed-out browser window reveals itself, which just happens to be on a site that features diamond rings. Engagement rings.

 (Totally and utterly shocked) WHAT IS THIS? WHAT IS THIS?

Jeremiah: (Waking up from nap, looks at the computer) Ohhhh, crap. Oh, crap. You weren't supposed to see that. (Hides under his blanket in mortification)

(Regains composure)

So, will you marry me?

---

And of course, I said yes. Our engagement lasted eight months, and we were married in May of last year. We thought about embellishing our engagement story to sound more thought-out and planned. Like, Jeremiah could've proposed to me by spelling my name in flowers on the side of mountain, while doves flew out, unicorns pranced in the meadows and confetti rained down upon us. That would have been cool. But our story fits our laid-back personalities, and it's pretty funny to me even today because I like to tease Jeremiah about it a little now that we're married.

---

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Belt it out, or Dress #32

Dress: Jackie Jon, thrifted;
Belt: Bought somewhere between
St. Augustine and Jacksonville, Fla;
Bracelet: Finder's Keepers;
Shoes: Aerosoles.
Another black dress day, and this one definitely needed some color. I'm not sure why I have so many black dresses when I don't really wear them that often. Note to self: stop buying what you don't like to wear.
Anyways, this belt is probably one of the oldest things in my closet (besides my Disney World dress). I bought it when I was on spring break with my best friend Liz back in 10th grade. The belt is meant to be worn low-slung, like with jeans. It used to have long strings to attach the two ends together, but I cut those off recently and now fasten the belt with a brooch so it can fit around my waist. I love it when I can fix a fit problem without resorting to tailoring!
What are your plans for this weekend? I'm planning on going home for Easter, and hopefully eating yummy rolls and jellybeans! Whatever you do, hope it's great.

Ye banks and braes, or Dress #31

Dress: Sangria, NYC;
Shoes: Zigi Soho;
Jade bracelet: Finder's Keepers;
Belt: Fossil.
How I've worn the dress before: here, here.

Just playing around with different locations at the park in these photos. I love how green the hill looks at 5 pm. All of a sudden, it seems like Georgia skipped over spring and went straight to summer -- I was feeling sweaty after about five minutes outside. I actually think I look a little like a tree because of the colors in this outfit. I also blend in a bit with the tree trunk in that last photo. I really love this dress -- it was versatile in the fall and winter, and I'm probably going to experiment with different bright colors for spring.
These photos actually remind me of a song we had to sing in my high school chorus called "Ye Banks and Braes." I always thought it was a beautiful, romantic song and probably my favorite out of all of our programs. Sometimes I miss my chorus days -- I was in it for 10 years, and quit in 11th grade to take more AP classes/do the video broadcasting class. I think the show "Glee" is pretty brilliant -- I remember there were enough dramatic scenarios in my class and our setting up for shows that could fill a reality show.

I wasn't cool enough to come up with an April Fool's joke this morning, but I always think Google is pretty clever with their multiple pranks. See any good pranks today, or have you ever pulled a good one?
