3 looks I'm ready to wear for spring

As the temperatures rise and Mr. Sun stays out longer than ever, I'm ready to pack away my boots and tights and get ready to wear these wardrobe essentials more often. Since I've decided to reuse what I already own, these looks come from past outfits; hopefully they'll conjure up some new ideas.

Monochromatic

It's pretty much a given that I'll be inspired to wear a lot of bright, solid-colored dresses, but I'd love to wear a few more monochromatic looks with my separates, especially patterned pieces. A lot of the spring runways have featured a few neon looks -- I'm looking forward to putting together a few outfits together, especially in orange and red.

Nautical

Nautical looks just seem to work best in warmer temperatures. I'm really ready to bust out the pleats, brass buttons and stripes. Hopefully this year I'll be able to spend some time near the ocean too.

Pastels

I'm usually not drawn to pastels (they usually remind me of Easter eggs), but I'm feeling experimental this spring, especially with shades of pink, purple, and green.

Don't go chasing waterfalls

It was so windy when I took these photos, I had to sling my heavy bag atop of my tripod to keep it in place and prevent it (and my camera) from falling into the lake. I must have jinxed myself from talking about the nice weather last week, because it rained the last couple days. I should refrain from mentioning any weather updates on the blog, to let Mother Nature just do her job and for me to talk about more interesting things other than the weather ...

This weekend was really lovely, though, and I got some time to read a few photography books. I've been brainstorming for so many photoshoot projects lately and thinking of new locations nearby that would work. I tend to imagine really elaborate projects, and find myself constantly wishing I lived near mountains and deserts and waterfalls in order to make these ideas work. I suppose I'll have to make do with my forests and paths for right now until better travel plans can be made. Or as TLC would say, "Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to." What was my anthem in second grade is relevant to adult me today.  

Anyways, please note how I'm matching my surroundings (again). That was by happy accident.

Easy DIY: Scarf organization

Just a simple way I like to keep my scarves organized. I used an empty glass cookie jar and folded all of my small to medium-sized silk scarves into squares and stuffed them inside. I like that I can see them all pretty easily in the glass, and the jar makes a pretty decoration in my closet.

The top of this parking deck may be a new photo location favorite. It's quiet, mostly isolated, and is witness to some of the prettiest sunsets.

I've been wanting to dress up lately in really tall wedges, so the nicer weather has given opportunity to that wish. Despite the fact that they add about four inches to my height, they're incredibly comfortable to wear. I may just end up wearing them all spring with everything ...

At some point a couple weeks ago, the winds changed course and the weather has been so glorious, I think I may have to pack up my boots and tights for the rest of the season. It seems fitting to celebrate the early spring in bright, saturated colors, gingham and the new Jeffrey Campbell sandals I received from the lovely Sharon of Elisharon (thank you, miss!).

On another note, my shorter hair may be changing my style a little bit, or at least how I perceive my clothes. I've been going for more classic, streamlined feminine looks lately (less ruffles, but more lines and color). I feel a little like Leslie Caron (in "An American in Paris") and Audrey Hepburn (in "Roman Holiday")  in this outfit. I suppose all those late nights watching Turner Classic Movies is having an effect on me...
