Friday finds -- pastels on parade

With spring in full gear, I've been delighted in seeing the blog world showcase a litany of pastel and bright colors. In shades of pink, green and orange, here are some looks that would rival any Easter egg basket:

 Emily of Sartoriography is a witty lady, savvy at vintage looks, writing and photographing Chicago landscapes. I love her creativity of balancing out a ballerina-esque pleated pink skirt with a burnt-orange sweater and tough boots. It's an outfit that would also be equally suitable for more adventures in the city or out in the comforts of the rural South.

I've been a fan of  Rebecca, the Clothes Horse for awhile (since before I started my own blog), and I find a lot of inspiration from her mix of interesting vintage finds, contemporary pieces and landscape photography. This beautiful dress is crochet, but is in a modern silhouette and punchy color. With a floral matching trench coat, it's a perfect juxtaposition against the historical sites around her military town.

A fellow Georgian, I love Bonjour, It's Jinah's fusion of Southern charm and cool academic style. Here she wears a cute mint green dress with a playful cat print that pulls off awesome and quirky without being too twee. See more of Jinah's playful prints and brightly-colored wardrobe here. 

You've met Lauren before, and her blog, My Closet in Sketches, is always a treat as she shares the stories behind her items. I love how she combined her grandmother's floral pastel jacket to bring color to her classic stripes and khakis. She also knows how to seriously find a deal -- she found a Lanvin dress discounted at Filene's and wore the hot pink frock for her birthday. Read more about her awesome finds here.

New feature -- Friday Finds

I'm so excited to debut a new weekly feature here on Sidewak Chic. I find a lot of inspiration here in the blog world from fellow bloggers, and so it made sense to highlight you all here. Enter Friday Finds -- each weekly post will incorporate a certain theme among the styles that I admire. 

This week's theme is "Something Blue." The idea for this came from my close friend Rachel, who's getting married this summer. Instead of having us bridesmaids wear matching taffeta or satin variations (that we'll never wear again), Rach just asked us to pick our own solid or floral dresses in her favorite color. Her laidback attitude is pretty refreshing, and it'll help ensure that we'll wear our frocks long after the bouquet toss is over. So naturally, I've turned to the blogosphere for ideas -- here are some of my favorite blue dress looks: 

Little Tin Soldier

 Linda from Little Tin Soldier recently wore this cheerful frock to celebrate her birthday. Its romantic details would be perfect for wedding wear -- the color is stunning, and I love how the silver sash helps dress it up. Check out her pretty illustration of her outfit too!

Delightfully Tacky

Elizabeth from Delightfully Tacky has an eye for finding beautiful vintage pieces, and thought this dress was reminiscent of "Mad Men" character Trudy Campbell, and I think she's right. The watercolor florals and jewel tones are perfect for an outdoor wedding, or heck, even some Derby Day Charleston dancing.

Clothed Much

I've long admired Elaine's creative wardrobe remixing skills. Here, she takes a blue dress with a retro-long length, and makes it look modern and fresh with classic, ladylike accessories. The bold jewelry and shoes are a great touch.

Liebemarlene Vintage

Rhiannon's Liebemarlene Vintage blog is a Southern dream: she features romantic vintage clothing and beautiful photography of her weekend adventures in small towns around Georgia. I love how she styled this patterned frock as a skirt, and would work as a great way to remix an old bridesmaid dress.
