The lost weekend

Egads, I have a lot of catching up to do! So you're going to get two outfits in one post so I can get back up to speed on the blog.

I wore this at some point last week after a very frustrating morning with my camera (I forgot to charge my battery and guess what happened when I turned it on?), so looking at these photos makes me a little exhausted. I've really been enjoying wearing my grey jacket with my floral dresses, but now the weather has turned and jackets are almost no longer necessary. Hello, early summer!

My sister came to town for part of her spring break, and so Jeremiah and I took the opportunity to show her some of the best parts of Athens: the Grill, Weaver D's (it was the 25th anniversary of this awesome soul food establishment), vintage shopping, and then some movie-watching at night (mainly "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" Swedish series). I've really been cherishing my time with her because she'll be going off to college really soon after this summer ...

It's a shame that I haven't worn this dress since The Dress Project, because it's definitely a dress that evokes summertime. I love the little sweetheart neckline to it, and this is one of my favorites because it's a pretty romantic piece.

Surprise, surprise, I got to take some photos at the farm park this weekend, so that was a nice little treat for me. Sunday was a really busy day because Jeremiah and I made another go of it at the other apartment to get some loads of stuff. It's amazing how much you can accumulate in a tinnny apartment over the course of a year. We've been doing the move a little slowly because we're trying to settle over here in Athens, and we still have the lease on the other apartment until the end of August. I wore this dress during some of the moving, and since I didn't have time to style my hair, I just shoved it all under my straw hat. Gotta love little accessories that help you look put together even when you're not!

Suburban bazaar, or Dress #27

Two posts in one day, yay yay. This morning we went to our park because there were booths set up for the giant yard sale/craft fair extravaganza today. We ended up not buying anything, but it was good to get outside in the sunshine and just to look at the crazy wares people were selling.  A lot of it was attic/garage clutter -- old baby clothes, baseball cards and VHS tapes. Though I'm sure if we spent an extra hour looking we would have found a gem or two. One woman had a sign at her booth that said,"Ask me about losing three dress sizes in 10 minutes" and I thought it was a riddle for a second until I saw the weight-loss supplements and drinks behind her.

Anyways, because there were many booths on the sidewalk, the normal stairway photos didn't turn out so well (i.e. the fair was distracting) so we shot around other places in the park. I really like this dress because the color just screams "Spring" to me. I also can't believe how much use I'm getting out of my bracelets -- they seem to go with everything!

Date night, or Dress #14

 I wish every day could have been like today -- went on a date with Jeremiah to TGIFriday's and had good conversation and food (him: wings, me: gourmet mac'n'five cheese). And then afterward, we saw the new "Alice in Wonderland." I thought it was a great version of the story --- but then again, I'm always in love with Tim Burton's vision and movies. It's hard to say which of his is my favorite, maybe "Nightmare Before Christmas"...

About this outfit. I don't know why I don't wear this dress very often. I bought it for a summer wedding a few years ago, and it's been languishing in my closet ever since. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it because it's got such a beautiful neckline and I love the way it fits me. A year ago, I would have classified this as an "Easter Sunday" kind of dress, because it's got that kind of pattern that can be interpreted as too saccharine. I think the inspiration from the blogosphere is helping me gain confidence in what I really want to wear.
