And the band played on

Jeremiah and I discovered a little carnival in our town Saturday evening, so like moths drawn to bright lights, we stopped to meander around. Though we were somewhat disinterested in riding the rides, it was the perfect opportunity for me to experiment with some nighttime photography, and for Jeremiah to test his skills at winning a mammoth from the festoons of hanging stuffed toys (alas, the basketball nets were too out of reach). Still, we had fun people-watching and eating cheap pizza, and pondering what life would be like if we were part of a traveling carnival crew.

How was your weekend?

Repeat after me

Dress: Tabloid, summer 2006;
Camisole: Aeropostale;
Shoes: Zigi Soho;
Jade bracelet: Finder's Keepers.
How I've worn the dress before: here.

Don't hate me, but I basically plagiarized myself and have worn this exact outfit once before. I can't help it -- I know there are many ways I could've layered this dress to make it look new, but Dress #6 from The Dress Project is basically one of the Queen Bees in my closet and just wants all the attention when she's worn (yep, this dress is a she). It's got this vibrant print that instantly makes me feel happier when I wear it because it reminds me of some faraway, tropical locale.

These photos were fun to take yesterday. In the first photo, I'm trying very hard not to indecently expose myself while also trying to balance on the wobbly fence. First I copy myself, and then I almost flash you all. I'm a jezebel, I must admit.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, dear friends in bloggoland. I'll be catching up on my Google Reader the next couple days, so prepare to be bombarded with comments from yours truly.

The city should give me its key, or Dress #6

Listening to: "I Feel Pretty,"
from the "West Side Story" soundtrack.
Dress: Tabloid, summer 2006;
Tank top: Wal-Mart;
Black cougar bracelet: Finder's Keepers;
Wedges: Zigi Soho, Off-Broadway.

I feel narcissistic posting all of these photos, but Jeremiah did a really good job and the lighting and weather worked out in our favor. It was a balmy 50 degrees today, so no tights or sweater! I wore this while running errands with Jeremiah today. He was even dressed up for work, and though he's mostly camera-shy, I made him play model:

We felt like quite the dapper couple today.

About the outfit. I bought the dress four years ago so I could wear it to see the second "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. That sounds overzealous, but I am a big Johnny Depp fan and it felt like a special occasion. It's a wrap design and I love the vintage ruching style on the sleeves -- I feel pretty in this dress. (Cue "The West Side Story" music) It's six dresses into The Dress Project and I've noticed that I'm feeling more chipper, excited and well, glamorous and I think it's because I'm putting much more thought into what I wear every morning.

I'm going to try to catch up on my blog reading and commenting this evening. Hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful Monday night!

P.S. Thanks to Marie from The Joy of Fashion for featuring one of my outfits. She's got such a sweet, colorful style and you should check out her blog!
