Spring fakeout

These photos were so hard to take over the weekend. The weather's been in the mid-50s to 70s during the day, and so I've been going tightsless in January, which is so strange! When I went to take these photos, so many people were playing outside at all the photo spots I wanted to use, that I had to find my old isolated wall for a few quick shots. This vintage dress has been a favorite for years, but the butterfly sleeves make it difficult to layer, but it works with an oversized sweater. Except for my shoes, this outfit is all secondhand.

Anyway, life is moving forward. I don't feel entirely prepared for how fast this semester is moving. I celebrated my birthday over the weekend by having a few friends over for "Community" and Cards of Humanity. I tested out my mom's lumpia (Filipino egg roll) recipe for the first time, and they came out pretty good. One of my resolutions this year was to eat a new vegetable or fruit every week, even if I am unsure of my skills in preparing them. That's what Google is for, right? So far in 2013: bell peppers, asparagus, starfruit, garlic, soybeans. Not together, of course (though that may not be a bad combination?). I'm working my way up to broccoli.

Lovely! Here's hoping you're still able to go without tights, and you're not getting this extreme arctic blast we're experiencing.

Awesome job on the lumpia attempt. I've yet to perfect my mom's recipe, but I'm trying!

  3. Think you'll be reading for New York winters next year? It's been so warm here the past two years... One of 2013 goals is to not drink coke! I haven't had soda since NYE. Oh, for a taste of my Coca-cola...

  4. You should do that middle shot again. It's a nice angle for you.

  5. I think I'll be able to handle NYC winters. The cold is not necessarily the problem — it's the area's lack of infrastructure (snow plows, etc) to handle snow and ice. I think once I'm in a city with public transportation, it'll be easier to deal with.

Congrats on your soda-free life! Coke Zero is often what keeps going through grad school, so I think I'll probably quit once I graduate.
